Wellness Programs

PDdance -Teaching artist Cynthia Pegado has been successful for nearly 2 years teaching Parkinson’s patients and caregivers something that everyone can do…Dance! Cynthia has been trained by the Mark Morris Dance Group for Parkinson’s specific techniques. Not only does she teach 2 separate sessions that have continued high attendance, but she also teaches an annual summer session at Canalside called, “Everyone Can Dance.” Dance is one of the most effective forms of exercise to help combat the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, and it’s a great way to be involved in a pleasant and social environment. No prior dance training is required, we welcome all to come dance with us!

Dance for Life This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with mobility issues to get back on the dance floor and find joy and exercise through music and motion. Kiki Bernas initiated this program in 2009 after extensive training with the Mark Norris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group. Patients and caregivers learn new ways to stimulate the mind, body and soul in a shared experience that, for many, brings them back to an entertainment they enjoyed together. Kiki has had great success with a wide variety of patients. Give it a try. You won’t regret it.

The Performance Arts Dance Academy is located at 206 Lake Street in Hamburg, NY

Call Kiki Bernas at (716) 649-5000 for more information on classes.
